Dedon

PROBLEM

A Dedon’s sales visit traditionally required a sales representative to carry with them a thick 500+ page catalog for product viewing and a laptop for ordering. This outdated model was both cumbersome and did not fit the Dedon brand image.

SOLUTION

While Partner at K+L, we worked with Dedon to develop a solution. We first dove into interviews with the sales reps and developed a journey map of their experience.

From there we had an internal brainstorming session to develop all the possible ways to solve their problems. Upon eliminating all but one clear winning idea we moved into concept development with wireframes.

We planned to develop a web app that took their 500+ page catalog and digitize it, then integrate an ordering system directly from the product pages. This idea sought to use the newly released iPad to act as the sole physical presentation and ordering device. Building a web app that integrated with their inventory system and ordering system would build efficiencies and create an elegant presentation and ordering experience.

The next stage was to create a series of rapid prototypes. This allowed us to nail down how to visually present the material and work out the integration with the existing databases. We then turned over all materials to the client so the internal technology team could finish development and integration.
